音乐的历史 faculty member Jonathan Yaeger’s research focuses on the music, 政治, 和 culture of postwar Germany, especially the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Yaeger is working on a book about the conductor Kurt Masur 和 his tenure leading the famous Leipzig Gew和haus Orchestra. His publications on the topic include articles in the edited volumes Classical 音乐 in the GDR 和 音乐 和 Diplomacy. Yaeger has presented papers at the American 音乐ological Society, the Medieval Academy of America, 和 the Leipzig Stasi 存档 (BtSU), 等. His other areas of interest include music of the Middle Ages, the medieval revival of the 19th century, 和 American popular music. He serves as music director 和 organist at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in New Canaan, Conn. He received his PhD in musicology from Indiana University 和 his master’s in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati (CCM). He received his BA in history from Yale. Yaeger was named music history chair in 2019.
